Find the Best Produce Near Your Apartment at the West Chester Growers Market

January 12, 2017

With winter in full force, the usual lush greenery of West Chester may now be replaced with snow but that doesn’t mean that your apartment pantry has to suffer. At the West Chester Growers Market located at the corner of North Church and West Chestnut Streets in downtown West Chester, which is only half a mile away from your Chestnut Square apartment, you can get seasonal goods any time of the year.

Chester County’s original producer-only market, which was established in 1995, requires that the fruits, vegetables, herbs, plants, beef, pork, eggs, flowers and more are offered by the very farmers that raised them. This allows for a truly farm-to-table atmosphere that you’re invited to experience every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of December. From January through April, the market is open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays of the month.

Some of the local farmers and artisans that you can expect to meet at the West Chester Growers Market are Big Hill Ciderworks, which grows their own fruit and then presses, ferments, bottles and kegs their own cider; Bryer Apiary, which produces pure honey produced from a variety of local nectars; Kings Creamery, which produces their own cow and sheep milk and cheese and Ole Valley Mushrooms, which grows oyster and shiitake mushrooms as well as some berries without the use of any chemicals or synthetic fertilizers.

Don’t miss a Saturday at the West Chester Growers Market to keep your kitchen stocked with the best and freshest products that Chester County has to offer!
