Race, Raise Funds at St. Pat’s 5K

March 7, 2017

Instead of walking to Kildare’s St. Patrick’s Day weekend, why don’t you run?

The annual St. Pat’s 5K returns March 18, with hundreds of green-clad revelers racing through the streets of Downtown West Chester to raise funds and awareness for a deserving local charity.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Bringing Hope Home, an organization started by a West Chester University alum to honor his late wife, who passed away of cancer. Bringing Hope Home provides funding to help cancer patients and their families pay household bills during their time of need.

In the past nine years, the group has given more than $4 million to 3,500 local families.

Such donations are made possible by events like the St. Pat’s 5K. The race kicks off at 3 p.m. at Church and Market streets and ends up at Kildare’s, 18 W. Gay St., just two blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment. You don’t have to be a professional runner to participate — there is a 2K walk for those who’d prefer a slower pace, and rankings are separated according to different age groups. The top two finishers in each category will receive gift cards to Kildare’s.

Participants and spectators are encouraged to get into the Irish spirit and wear green!
