Halloween Happenings in West Chester

October 23, 2017

The spookiest season of the year is finally upon us, and you don’t have to be a youngster to enjoy it!

Whether you hole up in your Chestnut Square apartment on All Hallows’ Eve and indulge in a “Hocus Pocus” marathon or check out the nightlife scene in town, there are lots of local ways to still enjoy Halloween as an adult.

Downtown West Chester will be overrun with little ghosts and goblins Oct. 25 for the town’s annual Halloween Parade. If you have a youngster in your life, or want to revisit your youth, this event is a must. Marching bands, cheerleaders, singers and more will take to the streets for the parade, which comes right past your Chestnut Square apartment. Though organizers put a stop to the tossing of candy into the crowd this year (boo!), kiddos can stock up on sweet at four candy stations.

Local bars and businesses will get into the spirit of the season on parade night. Sidebar, two blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, is hosting a “Cookies & Milk” party (and by “milk,” they mean hard cider!), where you can pair your favorite sweet beverage with one of three handmade cookies. Kildare’s, three blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, is also throwing a parade after-party starting at 10 p.m., complete with Pub Pong, which features a $100 gift card for the winner.

The next night, Rams Head, two blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, is throwing its hat into the ring with its Halloween Kickoff Party, featuring killer drinks specials like $1.50 PRB drafts and $2.50 mixed drinks. Don your best Halloween duds for a costume contest that includes a $100 cash prize for first place.

If you think you’ve got a winning costume, recycle it on Halloween night and head back to Kildare’s to compete for the $500 grand prize! Competitors get extra points for crowd response, so make sure to round up your crew to tag along. DJs, drink specials and an inflatable photo booth round out the night.

Who said Halloween is a kids’ holiday?!
