Take Santa’s Express through the Chester Creek Valley this December

December 9, 2016

Are you looking for a Christmas activity that’s friendly for your little ones? The West Chester Railroad, an all-volunteer, not-for-profit corporation which is totally dependent upon the volunteer spirit of its members, is currently conducting its annual Santa’s Express rides, perfect for Chestnut Square families looking to get in the holiday spirit.

The 90-minute journey on the heated and festively decorated train, which departs from 230 East Market Street which is only three blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, begins with a greeting from Santa at the Market Street Station and then follows with a ride to Glen Mills. Once the train arrives at Glen Mills, passengers will have the opportunity to explore the historic station and get a photo with Santa Claus.

Throughout the ride, passengers will also enjoy hot chocolate and other refreshments as well as listen to the live music of Greg Wright and friends singing all of your favorite Christmas songs. Of course, Christmas song requests are more than welcome.

Train rides on the West Chester Railroad depart on Dec. 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and on select dates, 5 p.m. Adult tickets costs $23, children from ages two to 12-years-old cost $17 and toddlers nine-months-old to 23-months-old cost $7.

The funding from the West Chester Railroad’s Santa’s Express goes to collecting, preserving and exhibiting railroad equipment and artifacts relating to railroading with emphasis on the southeastern Pennsylvania region.
