3 Races to Help You Get Active This FallOctober 4, 2018
There’s perhaps no better time than the fall to take advantage of the natural beauty surrounding your Chestnut Square apartment for some outdoor exercise. Whether you’re trying to manage your weight, increase your energy level or practice a new hobby, the local landscape affords ample opportunities for walkers and runners. While you can certainly get lots of exercise at your own pace, taking part in a race is a great way to challenge yourself and strive for a goal. Such events are open to competitors of all abilities, so you can walk, jog, run or a combination—and you might get some cool medals at the end!
Here are a few of the best races coming to the area around your Chestnut Square apartment this fall:
Let’s Give Hope: This race will be held Oct. 6 and sets off from Church and Market streets, four blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment. The event features a number of opportunities for athletes of all abilities: There is a 2K walk, a 5K run and a wheelchair race. No matter your strengths, you can participate!
Bark for Life: If you run with your dog, why not do it to help support cancer causes? That’s the idea behind Bark for Life. The Oct. 21 event raises funds for American Cancer Society by letting both humans and canines race through East Goshen Township Park, four miles from your Chestnut Square apartment. Prizes will be given to top-finishing participants (pups too!), and pet owners can peruse a range of dog vendors after the race.
Family Run Day & Fun Day: This family-friendly event will kick off 8 a.m. Oct. 14 at West Goshen Community Park, two miles from your Chestnut Square apartment. Participants can compete in a 5K run, a fun run and a walk, perfect for families. Following the races, there will be a carnival complete with games, raffles and more. Proceeds benefit CCDSIG, which provides resources for people with Down syndrome and their families.
