Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day Without the Stress

However, such a popular occasion can mean packed bars and long lines. If you’re looking for a St. Paddy’s outing without all the headaches, consider traveling off the beaten bath—but still close enough to your Chestnut Square apartment to make your night out a breeze.
The Stone Tavern, about three miles from your Chestnut Square apartment, is a popular Irish pub, but one that’s a bit removed from the hustle and bustle of West Chester’s downtown. Because of that, diners and drinkers can easily socialize and sip without all the noise and congestion.
With a slogan that promises visitors they’ll enjoy a “wee bit o’ Blarney!” the authentic Irish foundation of the spot is on full display. The restaurant and bar recently dropped its former name The Blarney Stone for its new rebrand—generated by its several decades of loyal customers and Irish family heritage (the owners came to the U.S. from Donegal, Ireland more than 150 years ago!). The building itself embraces history with reclaimed wood, stone and mortar, showcasing the history of both Chester County and Ireland.
Irish roots are at the heart of its menus, which boast plenty of Irish influences. To start, diners can dive into Irish ham and potato soup or Guinness stew, and enjoy the addition of homemade Yorkshire pudding to all soups and salad. Entrees include selections like Scottish salmon and Shepherd’s pie, though there are plenty of options for those with more Americanized tastes. On the drink side, The Stone Tavern partnered with a whiskey company in Ireland to serve handcrafted Irish spirits, along with a number of locally crafted selections.
Lots of venues try to hop on the St. Patty’s bandwagon but, at The Stone Tavern, partiers can enjoy authentic Irish food and drink without all the noise and crowds—all just minutes from their Chestnut Square apartment.
