Where to Drink and Dine Outdoors this August

August 6, 2020

Outdoor dining and drinking was always a staple of the West Chester summer scene—now more so than ever! With ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, many local establishments, including lots near your Chestnut Square apartment, have moved their operations al fresco, so you can still enjoy the award-winning cuisine and cocktails local spots are known for, and get a little (safe!) socializing done at the same time. With so many outdoor dining options, it can be hard to narrow down all the choices. So why not go with one that has a long history of nailing this whole outdoor thing?

Roots Café is known for its sustainable food—and its picturesque outdoor patio. Featuring a garden, fountain and trellises brimming with flowering plants, the patio is an outside oasis that provides the perfect respite from the summer sun. And since it’s on the smaller side, you don’t have to worry about overcrowding and instead can focus on socializing safely.

And, of course, the food! All of Roots’ menu items are sourced from area farms, so each meal gives back to our local community—which needs our support now more than ever. Enjoy breakfast and lunch at the café, with all-organic options that include apple cinnamon French toast and sweet potato benedict in the morning, or a grass-fed burger and seasonal salad in the afternoon. Wash it all down with one of Roots’ handcrafted cocktails, like the jalapeno margarita, bloody Mary or mimosa. You can also get your taste of local beer with one of several brew offerings.

Summer in West Chester this year is going to look a bit different, but with all the exciting outdoor dining options near your Chestnut Square apartment, you can still make it a memorable one!
