Get in the Holiday Spirit in West Chester this December!

December 3, 2021

It’s the jolliest time of the year! Whether you’re a jolly elf or a big ole Grinch, there are a few activities that will put a smile on everyone’s face this holiday season. Looking for some ideas for a great way to get in the holiday spirit here in West Chester? Spend your weekends visiting these local places that will be sure to make you feel merry!

Wiggins Christmas Trees – While there are a dozen parking lots and big box stores you can find you tree at, one local holiday tradition we love to plan every year is the outing to Wiggins Christmas Tree Farm. At this local farm you can pick out and cut down your own Christmas tree, and they’ll supply everything for you.

However, you can make an extra special day out of it this year! Wiggins is proud to partner with the West Chester Railroad to offer you a new one-of-a-kind holiday experience – their Christmas Tree Train!. Board the train at the Market Street station and enjoy coffee, hot chocolate and donuts during the approximately 30 minute train ride to Wiggins Farm. When you arrive you will disembark to get your tree and ejoy the farm, and once you are finished your tree will be baled, tagged and loaded onto the train for the ride back to West Chester. How cool is that!?

Holiday Door Tour – If you love this time of year, a big reason is probably because you love peeping at everyone’s decorations! Who could resist the bright lights and trimmed trees? West Chester’s family-friendly Holiday Door Tour, which started as socially distanced replacement for the Holiday Home Tour in 2020, is coming back this year Saturday, December 4 through Sunday, December 19. This self-guided event will feature dozens of West Chester doors and porches decorated by their owners in holiday finery. Since it takes place outdoors, no masking or vaccination proof is required for the Door Tour. To attend, make a donation (of any size) to the library’s Holiday Appeal. Donors will receive Door Tour maps, an entry in our Holiday Raffle, and a list of scavenger hunt items to look for among the decorations. Tour-goers can go on any or all of the several scavenger hunts for specific items among the decorations in different areas of the borough.
