West Chester Named 2nd “Most Exciting” Spot in PA
March 20, 2017From nightlife to shopping to outdoor activities, West Chester has a lot of excitement to offer.
The buzz about our borough is now getting national attention, with real estate website Movoto recently naming West Chester the “second-most exciting” place to live in Pennsylvania!
The listmakers used a number of criteria to determine the ranking, first identifying the 50 most-populous cities in the state. From there, they used U.S. Census data to determine the number of bars, clubs, live-music venues, parks, theaters, restaurants and other nightlife options per capita. Cities earned points for having more residents in the 18-34 age range and also for having high population density.
Movoto crunched some numbers and came up with each city’s “Big Deal Score” — the lower the better. West Chester walked away with a 12.13, right in between top-ranked Pittsburgh’s 10.63 and Lancaster’s 13 (and several places ahead of Philly’s 15.75!).
West Chester stood out as one of the smaller spots among the top-10 contenders: We had the second-lowest population but were also found to be the second-most populated area in the state — proving West Chester packs a lot of punch into a small package!
The borough was also among the youngest (with more than half of residents in the coveted 18-34 range). West Chester also ranked high for nightlife and outdoor options, coming in fifth place on both lists.
