How to Have Winter Fun in West Chester

January 20, 2018

The lazy, hazy days of summer are a distant memory, as West Chester hunkers down for the brutal arrival of Old Man Winter. It may be tempting to hibernate in your Chestnut Square apartment, but with so many awesome winter activities abounding in the area, there are plenty of reasons to get out and about this winter.

Here are just a few ways to welcome the cold weather in West Chester:

West Chester University: Embrace your inner kid and break out the sled or snowboard! West Chester University, about one mile from your Chestnut Square apartment, is home to some great hills for winter fun. The South Campus area, behind the university’s stadium, is a popular spot for snow lovers.

Chester County Art Association: About a mile from your Chestnut Square apartment, the expansive art facility features galleries for art lovers of all stripes, a perfect way to escape the chilly weather. If you’re really feeling adventurous, sign up for one of the many CCAA classes, designed for both art aficionados and beginners.

Take in a Show: Downtown West Chester’s arts scene is exploding. Even on a snowy night, locals can find any number of entertaining and even educational shows and series. At the Uptown Knauer Performing Arts Center, four blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, warm up with a Jan. 12 comedy show, a Jan. 18 jazz cocktail hour, a Jan. 21 gospel event or a Jan. 25 tribute to rock ‘n’ roll great Jimi Hendrix. West Chester University also has full arts schedule, such as the Jan. 13-14 winter dance festival.
