Arts Spring to Life in West ChesterMay 2, 2018
Spring has finally sprung! After a long winter of hibernation, it’s a great time to get out and about around your Chestnut Square apartment and experience all that downtown West Chester has to offer.
One of the best ways to do that is at the May Day Festival of the Arts, a huge outdoor celebration of all things artistic that will be held just one mile from your Chestnut Square apartment. The festivities are set for May 6 at Everhart Park.
As its name suggests, art is the centerpiece of the festival. More than 60 artisans, including many from the local area, will present hand-crafted wares. Vendors include those who specialize in jewelry, painting, fabrics, tableware and much more. Mother’s Day is just a few days later, so this is a great opportunity to grab some last-minute gifts for Mom! Or, if you’re looking for some spring décor to add some seasonal flair to your Chestnut Square apartment, you can certainly find a gift for yourself at the festival.
A number of the artisans will perform on-site demonstrations, showing passersby how they make their handcrafted goodies, which could offer some inspiration to artists in training. While art is the focal point, the festival features lots of other engaging activities: Live performers will take the stage throughout the day to provide background music and maybe even get some folks up and dancing. Local food trucks will line the park offering their own handcrafted items. Those with kids (or kids at heart!) will love the children’s activities like the moon bounce, rides and games.
The May Day Festival of the Arts is a perfect opportunity to get out of your Chestnut Square apartment and greet the spring! Hundreds usually take part in the festival, meaning you get to mix and mingle with your neighbors while enjoying the (hopefully!) sunny day, and plethora of artistic activities. Hope to see you there!
