Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth LocallyJune 5, 2020
As West Chester anxiously awaits the full reopening of all of our favorite businesses, there’s one sweet way to deal with all that stress! Takeout and delivery have become staples of all of our diets, but restaurants aren’t only serving apps and entrees—don’t forget about dessert! And right near your The Isle apartment, there are many shops that specialize in sweet treats. Since June is the host of a number of special “holidays” celebrating all things sugar—with specific days for donuts, chocolate ice cream, smoothies and chocolate pudding all this month—what better reason to indulge, all while supporting local businesses?
One great spot to do just that is as at Amy’s Sweet Bake Shop, two blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment. If you’re looking to give back to West Chester, Amy’s is a perfect fit, as everything about the shop is community-oriented; the owner is a self-taught baker who went to our very own West Chester University and stuck around town after college. Now in its fifth year, the business specializes in handmade and hand-decorated sweets for every occasion—weddings, birthday parties and just simply treating yourself after the challenging few months we’ve all had! If you’re planning a soiree to reunite with your friends, make the celebration extra sweet with an order from Amy’s.
The shop offers a range of sweet treats—cakes, cupcakes and mini-cupcakes, offered in nearly two-dozen flavors, including adventurous options like vanilla bean blueberry, confetti sprinkle and pumpkin. Top or fill your selection with more than a dozen frostings and fillings. Amy’s also offers custom cookies, including chocolate chip, cream-filled sugar and meringue, as well Oreo truffles, chocolate-covered pretzels and much more. Many menu items are also available as gluten-free.
We’ll all be back into the swing of things soon, but until then, take a little time to treat yourself!
