Cure Your Cabin Fever at This Local Park

May 14, 2020

The last few months may have had you spending lots of time on the couch of your Chestnut Square apartment, but with spring soon turning into summer, there’s no better time to get out and about and enjoy the sunshine. While getting back to normal is going to take some time, a simple stroll in the park can still be a safe and healthy way to get a change of scenery and some exercise. And with all of the green spaces in West Chester, there are plenty of spots to choose from.

One of the best places to take in the greenery is at Stroud Preserve. Located three miles from your Chestnut Square apartment, the nearly 600-acre park is the perfect place to escape from the serious issues of the day—and instead marvel in the natural beauty, while clearing your mind and getting some needed exercise. The rolling hills of the park are popular with everyone from hikers to bikers, while nature lovers will appreciate all of the sights: farmlands, grasslands, woodlands and hundreds of different trees and plants.

Stroud Preserve typically hosts frequent community events—nature talks, bird-watching expeditions and more. While such gatherings have been canceled in recent weeks, the organization is moving much of its work online—so once you get back from getting some exercise in the park, log onto its website and follow the Preserve on social media to take part in live Q&As, take virtual tours and more.

So if you’re looking for a change of scenery to clear your mind and reenergize yourself, lace up the sneakers, leash up the dog and head out of your Chestnut Square apartment to get some fresh air, stretch your legs and get a taste of springtime in West Chester.
