Where to Celebrate Spring in West Chester

March 25, 2021

After a long and cold winter, spring is just about upon us! This season more than ever, we all could use some flowers, greenery and sunshine. While it may take a few weeks for spring to have truly sprung, now is the perfect time to break your sneakers back in and take in the spring sights, sounds and smells in Philly.

There are plenty of green spaces to do just that around your Chestnut Square apartment, including Everhart Park. The community park offers green space, beautiful spring flowers, opportunities for exercise and socializing and plenty of history.

Everhart, one mile from your Chestnut Square apartment, is the town’s second-oldest park, dating back to the early 1800s. It served as a Civil War training camp and later was bought by the town, which has developed it into a flourishing hub of the community. When the pandemic subsides, the park will again become the host of community events like an annual music festival, Shakespeare in the Park shows, an Easter Egg hunt and much more.

A massive upgrade to the park’s playground is underway, featuring a treehouse, six slides, a ninja obstacle course, a zip line and more. So if you have kids in your life or want to revisit your youth, a trip to Everhart Park is a great option for springtime fun. The park is undergoing a wider renovation led by an association of local neighbors. New benches were recently installed, along with more than 20 trees and a new bed of liriope plants. Exercise enthusiasts can get their heart pumping along the winding pathways and over the rustic footbridge or by playing a pick-up game on the basketball courts. Expansive park space and picnic benches also make it a great spot for a safe, socially distanced gathering with friends to take in some springtime fresh air.

We’ve all been cooped up this winter, so now is the time to welcome back warmer weather and all the possibilities of spring, all safely and without traveling too far from your Chestnut Square apartment.
