The Arts in West Chester Are Back!

July 1, 2021

For too many months, locals have been stuck home attending Zoom happy hours and binging Netflix, wishing for the days of socializing with friends in person and immersing yourself in all of the exciting arts and culture offerings of the West Chester area. Well thankfully this summer, the town is slowly reopening and life is getting back to normal, which means you can bust out of your Chestnut Square apartment and take in both the sunshine and your social calendar.

One of the town’s most well-known arts venues is officially reopening this month. On July 7, head to Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center for a grand reopening event. At 7 p.m., grab a seat (or tune in virtually!) to hear from artists, filmmakers, theater directors and more as they unveil the work that went into the reopening and what audiences can expect from the coming months. Find out about the upcoming show lineup, learn about the safety plans and see how the events of the last year will reshape the future of the venue.

Then, make plans to check out all of the shows on the calendar. On July 9, Uptown! brings back the laughs with Better Than Bacon, an improv comedy show that gives audience members the power to direct the action. On July 31, Live at the Fillmore, considered one of the best Allman Brothers Band tribute groups, takes over the stage for two 45-minute sets, bringing classic Southern rock to West Chester. Throughout the rest of the summer, take in indie artists, rock bands, singer-songwriters and more. And, it’s all just three blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment.

Before your summer social calendar fills up too much, make sure to pencil in some time for a visit to Uptown! to reacquaint yourself with West Chester’s exciting arts community.
