Three Great Ways to Enjoy Downtown West Chester This Summer

July 8, 2021

Downtown West Chester is back! After a rough year-and-a-half, the town is finally starting to get back to normal, with bustling sidewalks, open businesses and lots of locals and visitors hitting the streets for some summer fun. This summer, there are three big opportunities to take in all that downtown West Chester has to offer—and it’s all just steps from your Chestnut Square apartment!

Out all Summer: This new initiative is designed to celebrate LGBTQ Pride and the great businesses of West Chester. From July through September, visitors to downtown can collect stamps each time they stop into participating businesses, with prizes award to the passport holders with the most stamps during a National Coming Out Day event in October. Businesses are sure to want to attract shoppers during the program so look out for special events, sales and more!

Gay Street Open Air Market: Starting in June, Gay Street again shut down to vehicular traffic for four full blocks of open air shopping and dining. The initiative started last summer amid the pandemic and, after becoming such a success, is returning for 2021, through late September. The market features seating for dozens of local restaurants, beer garden-like setups, merchandise shoppers can peruse right on the sidewalks, artisan and community vendors, and much more.

Music at Marshall Square Park: Located just four blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, Marshall Square Park is welcoming back its live music series this summer. On the first and third Thursdays of the month, head out to the community park for live performances from some of the area’s most accomplished musicians, as well as up-and-comers. Bring a blanket, some snacks and get ready for some summer fun!
