Lend a Local Helping Hand this Giving TuesdayNovember 18, 2021
It’s that time of year again, where we gather with friends and loved ones and reflect on all that we’re grateful for. Millions of Americans will travel this week to visit loved ones and feast together for Thanksgiving, but millions of other Americans will also be struggling without homes or food. In the spirit of helping others, Americans celebrate “Giving Tuesday” every Tuesday before Thanksgiving to share the love with those less fortunate than us.
There are so many worthy charities to lend a hand to this time of year, but here are several local ones you can find not too far from your Chestnut Square apartment here in West Chester.
The Delaware Valley Children’s Charity – Dedicated to the relief and assistance of children in need, The Delaware Valley Children’s Charity has been helping little ones in our area for 35 years. Whether it’s a new toy or a warm coat, every little donation makes a difference at this charity, which doesn’t focus on saving lives but “warming hearts.” Entering their 36th holiday season, the pandemic has once again altered their plans but not faltered them. You can participate in their donation drive digitally by following this link.

West Chester Food Cupboard – The West Chester Food Cupboard was born in 2009 and is now 100% volunteer run with no paid staff. Over 150 volunteers carry out a myriad of tasks, most importantly responding generously to the needs of low-income West Chester residents who are struggling to feed themselves and their families. There are several ways to help this local charity make a difference this holiday season – you can donate financially, donate food, or donate your time. And if you or someone you know needs assistance, feel free to reach out to them or stop by during their hours of operation.
