Here’s How to Check Out ChesCo’s Best Fall Foliage
October 14, 2021Autumn is known for loads of awesome things: firepits, sweater weather, beer festivals and the pre-holiday excitement. October is also prime time for peeping some colorful fall leaves—and there’s no better place to do just that than near your Chestnut Square apartment.
From Everhart Park to the Stroud Preserve, there are lots of ways to enjoy an outdoor adventure amid the fall colors, all just minutes from home. And lucky for us, there’s an event happening several times this month that will let you enjoy all of the spectacular sights of the entire Chester County region in one afternoon.
On Oct. 3, 10 and 17, hop aboard the Fall Foliage Express on the West Chester Railroad to see the region at its peak fall beauty. The train tours depart the West Chester station, just two blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, at noon and 2 p.m. and, for 90 minutes, will carry you through some of the area’s most picturesque small towns, including Westtown, Cheyney and Locksley, ultimately ending the trip in Glen Mills. The track is surrounded by thick woods throughout the route, making it the perfect spot to immerse yourself in fall foliage.
While the Fall Foliage Express is designed for those looking to take in the scenery, the railroad also has a number of other special events throughout the month. On Oct. 17, speed back in time with a trip on the West Chester History Train, a 90-minute interactive tour that will introduce you to the rich history of the railroad and its nearby towns. And on Halloween weekend and the weekend before, hop aboard the Trick or Treat Special if you have kids in your life. Guests are encouraged to wear costumes and jump off at the Glen Mills station for a trick or treat event and to explore the historic town.
If you’re looking to enjoy all that fall in Chester County has to offer, look no further than the West Chester Railroad.
