Bar Crawl through West Chester on St. Paddy’s

March 14, 2018

One of the biggest party days of the year is almost here!

The area around your Chestnut Square apartment goes completely green in March, as Irish revelers, and those who are just Irish for the day, don their shamrocks and hit Center City for St. Patrick’s Day. The holiday falls on a Saturday this year, so the pub crawls and parties will be especially celebratory.

Here are a few of the standouts:

Celtic Crawl: One of the biggest St. Paddy’s parties in West Chester is the Celtic Crawl, which will be held March 3. Now in its ninth year, the bar crawl takes partiers to four local hot spots: Barnaby’s, Mas Mexicali Cantina, Ram’s Head and Kildare’s, all just a few blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment. Your $20 ticket gets you a swag bag, T-shirt, completely free you-call-it specials for the first hour and drink specials at all of the bars along the route. Dress for the occasion, as prizes will be given out for the best St. Paddy’s Day attire.

Kildare’s: Even if you’re not on a crawl, Kildare’s, three blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment, is the place to be on St. Patrick’s Day. The doors of the famed Irish pub open at 8 a.m. with live music throughout the day, along with broadcasts of Irish rugby match-ups. The bar is sure to be packed all weekend, so Kildare’s is offering an early-bird VIP ticket for $25 that allows partiers to skip the line and the cover charge all weekend, grab a T-shirt and get a full Irish breakfast and stout Thursday-Sunday.

St. Pat’s 5K: If you want to go to a different kind of St. Patrick’s Day party, sign up for the St. Pat’s 5K. Held March 11, the holiday-themed race kicks off at Church and Market streets, four blocks from your Chestnut Square apartment. Take part in the 2K walk or go for the full 5K run. This isn’t just any race: Since it’s centered on St. Patrick’s Day, expects lots of green and maybe even a few leprechauns. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit Bringing Hope Home.
