Celebrate Chester County at This Historic Tour

October 1, 2021

Chester County is known for its incredible scenery: Rolling hills, vineyards, fall foliage and more provide a beautiful backdrop to the county, offering a nice balance of country and city living for West Chester residents. Situated within all that greenery are tons of historic homes that showcase the county’s rich history while also making Chester County one of the region’s most attractive locations.

If you want to see some of those homes up close and personal, that opportunity is coming up at Chester County Day Oct. 2, where you can tour a dozen local homes and learn about their history, architecture, design and décor, gardens and more. The event starts with a walking tour in Everhart Park, just one mile from your Chestnut Square apartment. Stop by five nearby homes that will help you see the park and its history in a whole new light. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park and can even purchase a boxed lunch for delivery by Arianna’s Gourmet Café.

Next, it’s off to East Bradford Township for another five stops, including at a 1730s colonial and a 1775 farmhouse. Finish your tour in Unionville, where the stops include the town’s original general store and post office, and you can also enjoy an antique car show set up for visitors. Earlier in the day in Unionville, make sure to check out the traditional fox hunt at 9 a.m., where dozens of horses and hounds will kick off the fun.

Tickets are $50, with proceeds supporting Penn Medicine’s Heart and Vascular Program at Chester County Hospital.

While West Chester is home to some of the area’s most up-and-coming, trendy restaurants, bars and shops, it’s also a haven for history, which you can see for yourself at Chester County Day!
